NV Krug Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition OC6
HK$1310 per bottle (or HK$7860 per case of 6) - 10 cases (6) available
97 points Decanter
The 172ème édition, based around the 2016 vintage, is a delicate, floral and saline Grande Cuvée at this early stage in its life. The palate it taut, tightly wound, gradually unfurling into toasted fruit bread, rye bread and roasted nuts, wrapped around an intricate and taut lemon core. It's exceptionally long, spicy, rounded and spherical in shape. Notes of sweet unsalted butter round out the finish, which has such length, elegance and balance. 58% of the wine is from the 2016 vintage, which saw a lot of rain in the spring and close to flowering, with 42% from reserve wines. The blend is made up of 146 separately vinified wines from 11 different years, and the oldest wine in the blend is from the 1998 vintage. Drink 2024-2045.

The NV Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition is a gracious, sublime Champagne. Light citrus notes, white flowers, spice, marzipan and chamomile inflections all run through this delicate, nuanced Grande Cuvée. The 172eme is a Champagne of understatement and class that is very much a reflection of the base year. Brisk acids pull it all together. The Grande Cuvée is often quite accessible on release, but this is an Edition I would cellar for at least another year or two. It’s a fine effort from Krug. The 172ème Édition is a blend of 44% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier based on 2016 with reserve wines back to 1998. Disgorged: Winter 2022-2023. Drink 2024-2044.
The NV Krug Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition marks the 172nd recreation of the House’s legendary multi-vintage Champagne, crowning nearly two centuries of savoir-faire. Centred on the 2016 harvest and released in spring 2024, it embodies Krug’s uncompromising philosophy: crafting a prestige cuvée each year, regardless of vintage conditions.
This extraordinary Champagne is composed of 198 individual wines spanning 26 harvests (1998–2016), with a blend of 48% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, and 17% Meunier. 43% of the final assemblage comes from reserve wines, precisely maintained by plot, variety, and year in stainless steel. Together, they deliver the vivid tension of 2016 layered with the depth and complexity of mature vintages.
Each base wine ferments separately in 205-litre old French oak barrels—Krug’s signature method. This artisanal process promotes gentle micro-oxidation, unveiling a distinctive internal creaminess. After blending, the wine matured sur lie for seven years in bottle, with tirage in 2017 and disgorgement in mid-2023. The result is a Champagne of remarkable nuance and finesse—an enduring tribute to time, precision, and excellence.
Pale gold, with a graceful, unhurried bead. The nose opens with toasted hazelnut, nougat, and candied citrus, deepening into ripe orchard fruit, light smoke, and a whisper of chalk. The palate balances richness and vitality: 2016’s brisk acidity drives notes of lemon curd, poached pear, and almond cream, while a saline thread anchors the mid-palate. Reserve wines impart hints of truffle, honeycomb, and discreet tropical tones. The mousse is quintessential Krug—silky and seamless—leading to a long, mineral finish tinged with grapefruit pith.
Pair beautifully with seared Hokkaido scallops and citrus beurre blanc, or opt for a roasted cauliflower steak with almond purée and preserved lemon for an elegant vegan match.
2013 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs OC6
HK$1090 per bottle (HK$6540/ case) – only 10 cases (6) available.
The Taittinger house has a long-standing reputation for excellence, and the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is a testament to their dedication to quality and craftsmanship. This exquisite Champagne is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, sourced from five of the most esteemed Grand Cruvineyards in the Côte des Blancs region: Avize, Cramant, Chouilly, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Oger. Each vineyard contributes its unique terroir, resulting in a wine that is both complex and harmonious.
Introduced in 1952, the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs was created to honor the historical Counts of Champagne, particularly Thibaud IV. Known as Thibaud the Singer, he was a Count of Champagne and King of Navarre in the 13th century. His legacy is honored with every bottle, as his seal adorns the label. Thibaud IV is credited with reintroducing the Damask rose and a grape variety believed to be an ancestor of Chardonnay during the Crusades, weaving history and tradition into every sip of this remarkable cuvée
This Champagne undergoes a minimum aging of 10 years in the historic chalk quarries of Saint-Nicaise in Reims, which date back to the 13th century. These unique conditions contribute to the wine's remarkable character. The 2013 vintage is particularly noteworthy, as a slow ripening process led to one of the latest harvests in October, resulting in grapes with exceptional concentration and complexity. This slow maturation process has resulted in a wine that is not only enjoyable now but also possesses the potential to age gracefully over the years, making it a perfect addition to your cellar.
Upon opening a bottle of the 2013 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, you will be greeted by an expressive and captivating nose. Aromas of tropical mango, passion fruit, baked green apple, lemon curd, and buttery toast intertwine, inviting you to experience its richness. The palate is equally impressive, showcasing a medium-bodied texture that is both creamy and vibrant. The balance of toasty brioche notes and lively acidity creates a delightful complexity that lingers long after the last sip.
This Champagne is perfect for any occasion, whether you are celebrating a special moment, hosting a gathering, or simply treating yourself to something extraordinary. It pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, from seafood and poultry to creamy cheeses and light desserts, enhancing your dining experience.

Fantastic complexity here with aromas of toast, biscuit, lemon, almond, chalk and some fennel. It's long, sleek and mineral, with tight, very fine bubbles and so much tension and precision. Very long and chalky finish. Disgorged end of 2023. Drink or hold

This beautiful Chardonnay from five top Grand Cru vineyards is textured with fruit that is still impressively perfumed. Its concentration has allowed it to remain perennially young. Although there are hints of toastiness, the Champagne has many more years of potential.

The 2013 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne's bouquet is compellingly fresh and minty, revealing aromas of white fruit—notably pear and apple—marzipan and sweet spices, as well as a light touch of citrus mingled with classy autolytic notes. On the palate, this is a structured, tensile and ethereal Champagne with high acidity—a sign of a classic vintage—animated by a mousse of striking finesse and delicacy. Although already enjoyable, it should develop well for several decades.

Cool and a little inscrutable on release, but the composed and expected clarity of flavour is all there: green mandarin, dried apple, white peach and croissant dough, sitting tightly wrapped with a touch of iodine and subtle char. A beautifully serene texture and gliding mousse deliver length, detail and quiet intensity. Patience is required for the initial sweet citrus to subside into something more complex, but when it does this shows signs of being a classic. 100% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs grand cru villages, with 5% oak fermentation.
