Based on 60% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, the 2016 Champagne Vintage Brut is released only after 6-7 years on the lees (sur latte). It pours a straw hue and displays a more expressive profile on opening, with notes of tangerine and fresh flowers, its red fruit coming through with fresh red raspberry and peppery spice. It’s medium-bodied and rounded through the palate, with excellent structure, powerful concentration, and a long finish. This has a refined yet powerful feel and will be a wine with significant longevity and slow maturation over the next 15-20 years. True to the house style, it has a sturdy backbone and is emblematic of a fantastic vintage champagne from Pol Roger. The mousse is pinpoint and rounded on the finish. 

 2021 Chavy Chouet Bourgogne Blanc Les Femelottes OC12

Exhibits a pale yellow, crystalline hue. The nose reveals delicate aromas of white fruits (pear, peach), intertwined with subtle white floral notes and a whisper of butter from oak aging.  Domaine Chavy-Chouet, a rising star in Burgundy, crafts exceptional wines from its 15-hectare estate in the Côte de Beaune. Run by seventh-generation winemaker Romaric Chavy since 2014, the domaine meticulously cultivates prime parcels in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Volnay, and Pommard, including.  With vines averaging over 40 years old, Romaric employs organic practices, emphasizing purity and freshness.  Gentle winemaking, using gravity-based fermentation and indigenous yeasts, preserves the fruit's vibrant character, complemented by the subtle elegance of Gillet barrels.

An overtly floral-suffused nose reflects notes of sea breeze, zest confit and a whiff of white pepper. There is more refinement if not necessarily better density to the beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors that possess better depth on the lightly austere, structured and lingering finale. While it should repay a decade or so of keeping, it should also be reasonably approachable after only 4 to 5 years.

This 2022 Vincent Girardin Puligny-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes offers a complex aromatic profile, such as citrus, stone fruit, white floral notes, and subtle oak nuances. On the palate, expect a dry, medium to full-bodied wine with vibrant acidity, mirroring the aromas with prominent citrus and stone fruit flavors, accompanied by a mineral undertone, all culminating in a long, lingering finish.

The 2022 Mt. Jefferson Cuvée Pinot Noir includes three-quarters estate fruit and one-quarter purchased fruit sourced from across the Eola-Amity Hills. Fifty-two percent whole clusters were used, and the wine was matured for 10 months in 22% new French oak. It has layered aromas of cranberry sauce, pomegranate, cardamom, forest floor and mushrooms. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated layers of earth-laced fruit structured by clay-textured tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a long, spicy finish. 11,755 cases were made.

A blend of 60% Nebbiolo and 40% Barbera, the Domenico Clerico 2021 Langhe Arte offers a hybrid of flavors from the playlist of both Piedmont native grapes. Aged in new and neutral oak, the wine has the wild, delicate aromas of Nebbiolo along with the thicker fiber and black fruit aromas that come with Barbera. There is some sweet spice on the close, and the wine concludes with a strong 15% alcohol content. You get a lot of food-pairing versatility with this wine. This is a 6,000-bottle release. 

2020 Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia Macan Clasico OC12

 The 2020 Macán Clásico was cropped from a more generous crop. The grapes were put in a cold chamber for one night and then underwent a cold soak of three to four days, after which they inoculated the yeasts—in 2020, 25% of it was their native yeast. It fermented in stainless steel, and the élevage was 45% in new French and 5% new American oak barrels, 28% in second use barrel and 22% in stainless steel for one year. The bottled wine has 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.78 and 4.5 grams of acidity (tartaric). This is one of the most elegant vintages of this bottling so far. It has showy aromatics with notes of smoky bacon, a bit meaty, and the thing that surprised me the most was the velvety texture. 202,697 bottles, 1,998 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in August 2022

 Deep ruby to the eye, this wine has aromas of blackberry, Mission fig and dried Mediterranean herbs. Black currant, black cherry, mocha and licorice flavors are cloaked in a layer of sturdy tannins that flitter away and leave behind notes of ripe summer cherry and milk chocolate.
